WintiNet welcomes you to Winterthur,
the 6th largest city in Switzerland with approx. 85,000 inhabitants (history). It
is well known not only for its high quality engineering industry and the insurance
company named after the town but also for its famous art-collections and
exciting museums. Situated 25
km north-east of Zurich by the rivers of Eulach and Toess it is easily
accessible by train, car and plane (15 min from Zurich Airport).
With its charming old town, the four
castles from the Middle Ages, its cultural diversity and many annual
events/festivals, Winterthur is an ideal resort for sightseeing holidays
as well as a starting point for walks and hikes in the surrounding hills and especially
into the beautiful Toess Valley (Winterthur city-guide).
Take your
own bicycle along or rent one once you're here. As the recognised bike
capital of Switzerland the town offers many great possibilities for leisurely
rides through our city of gardens and along the " Industrial Heritage
Bike Track". Or enjoy an easy tour on a bike-only path directly along
the bank of the river Toess. As for the more adventurous, they find plenty
of strenuous climbs in the nearby hills and mountains. If you would like
to make new friends while cycling contact us - many Winterthurers will offer to show you around! " Bike for friends " , your chance of getting
to know Winterthur very personally!

hotel-list. Private accommodation can be organised
on request. If you need further information in English about any aspect
